Nemesis
Inferno opened
in 2003 under heavy accusations that it was a dodgy copy of Nemesis
at Alton Towers. This wasn't the case as the park had themed the
ride around an erupting volcano and despite the similar name and
ride type, there are no similarities.
Nemesis
Inferno stands 95ft above Calypso Quay and has excellent capacity,
if running on two trains. The inverted design means that riders
legs dangle in mid air whilst they fly around the track at speeds
of over 40mph.
The
ride can be intimidating, but not nearly as intimidating as Colossus
or Stealth. This also results in the queue for Nemesis Inferno being
a lot less, whilst Colossus could have a more than two hour queue,
at the same time Nemesis Inferno would have about 1 hour 30mins.
Personally
I feel that Nemesis Inferno is a lot better than Colossus, partly
because it is the smoothest roller coaster that Thorpe Park has
ever built and also because it never gets boring, from the volcano
right to the brakes, this ride never lets up.
If
you ride Nemesis Inferno, your voyage will start by boarding the
cars inside an 'erupting volcano,' after leaving the station you
will take a quick dip to the right and enter the volcano. You might
get wet here, but its only mild. After leaving the volcano, you
turn to the left and start the 95ft tall lifthill. You climb this
quite quickly and before you know it, you'll be at the top. A small
drop is then followed by a long twisting drop to the left, towards
Detonator, and then a vertical loop. After the loop, you fly above
the path and into a Zero G roll before diving back down and racing
only feet above the ground. Then comes the interlocking corkscrews,
you will be turned upside down twice here. Your photo will shortly
follow so make sure you smile. A figure of 8 helix and then the
brakes. Nemesis Inferno will leave you pumping with adrenalin and
wanting more.
Riders
must be a minimum of 1.4 meters tall to ride. |
