Rita Queen Of Speed opened in 2005 and features a 0-62mph launch. Rita is located in Ugland, near to and at one point over 'The Corkscrew.' It is themed around racing but due to the size of Ugland and the size of Rita it does appear to be cramped. The station is outside which is good for the racing effect, but bad when it rains or when it is cold.

If you do decide to ride Rita then you start by entering the queue under a large tyre with the logo on it. You will probably be queueing for quite a while because it is a very popular ride. Not many people know this because of the clever marketing scheme, but Oblivion is actually faster than Rita, and it accelerates in less time. When you make your way to the station, you will pass under the launch track, stay to the left if you want to ride in the front row. We suggest that you wait this extra time as it is well worth it. When you arrive at the station, you will see the train in front of yours launch and probably have second thoughts as to whether or not you want to ride. Rita's safety restraints aren't as comfortable as some of the other rides at Alton Towers, but you'll only be on the ride for about 1 minute. Once all of the checks have been made the staff will vacate the platform and stand behind air gates, well away from the train. "GO GO GO," echoes around the platform and you're accelerated from 0-62mph in 2.8 seconds. A sharp turn to the right starts the ride before a 75ft airtime hill, flying over Corkscrew and back into a second airtime hill, a turn to the right leads to under the first turn, another airtime hill and the brakes follow.

If you decide to ride Rita we suggest that you visit Ugland after the Forbidden Valley, via the Skyride. The average queue time for Rita Queen Of Speed is 60 minutes, but can be significantly more in the summer months.

Riders must be a minimum of 1.4 meters tall to ride. There is a test seat located at the ride entrance if you're unsure.
