Sheikra
is
basically an upgraded Oblivion, taller,
faster and actually 90 degrees! However despite this we still find
Oblivion to be a lot more scary, partly due to the colour and partly
due to the station, queueline, atmosphere, music and the diving
into a black hole. Saying this, Sheikra is still an extremely good
ride, smooth, fast, high and now floorless, what more could you
want? Sheikra opened in 2005 with standard dive coaster cars, much
like still found on Oblivion, but was upgraded to floorless in 2007.
The new floorless cars make it much more terrifying whilst hanging
over the edge, especially if you're in the front row, there's nothing
between you and the floor, 200ft below!
We
don't have any suggestions for when to ride Sheikra as when we
were in Florida there were next to no queues at all, however
the advice normally given in other guides is to ride first.
When
you board Sheikra, you will board with the floor in position and
a retractable gate in front of the front row to assist guests boarding
the front. Once the train is cleared for departure, the floor will
retract and your legs will be dangling above the large red track.
A small dip to the right starts the ride before a 200ft 45 degree
climb. Whilst turning around at the top, you can see fantastic views
of the neighbouring area and the rest of Busch Gardens rides. As
you approach the drop your nerves begin to build, the train creeps
over the edge and hangs for 6 seconds. Then, you drop, you enter
an immelmann loop before a helix up into the first set of breaks,
still 138ft above the ground. The train then approaches a second
vertical drop but doesn't hang. The train enters a tunnel before
a turnaround and a splashdown finale. A helix into the brakes finishes
the ride.
Sheikra
is located in Stanleyville and we suggest that you ride the water
rides in the area after Sheikra. |
