Stealth
opened
in 2006 with the title of 'Europe's fastest roller coaster', unfortunately
it has since lost this title to Furious Baco at
PortAventura.
Stealth
is themed around a race which is taking place in the 1950's. This
is portrayed by 50's music blaring out of the speakers around 'Amity
Speedway'. The ride even has it's very own DJ on WWTP radio.
The
ride itself stands 205ft above Amity Cove and it is the tallest
roller coaster that Merlin Entertainments own. It accelerates from
0-80mph in less than 2 seconds before shooting up the tower.
If
you wish to ride Stealth we think that the best time is either first
or last. This ride is extremely popular so expect to have to wait
some time. However due to the ride's reliability, it is almost guaranteed
that it will break or be closed for some/most of your visit. This
is why we recommend that if it's open, ride it, it may be closed
later. Because of the popularity the queues can reach extreme levels,
such as during Fright Nights 2007 when the queue was 180 minutes
(3 hours). Is it really worth waiting 3 hours for a ride that lasts
less than 15 seconds.
If
you do decide to wait it out in the queue, your ride will begin
by boarding the themed train. After all the checks have been made,
the red lights will begin to count up, the train will roll back
slightly and the announcements will kick in. "Place your heads
back, face forwards, 3...2...1" The lights will change to green
and you will hear "GO, GO, GO" all around the station.
Within the blink of an eye, you're accelerated to 80mph, and before
you can realise what's happening, you will make a vertical climb
to the height of 205ft. A brief look around will be followed by
a 200ft vertical drop and an airtime hill before you slow down and
return to the station.
Riders
must be a minimum of 1.4 meters tall to ride.
